Go backOn June 10th, 2020, Federal Law No. 14,010/2020 was published in the Official Federal Gazette, which, among other provisions, determines that the administrative sanctions under the local specific law on personal data protection, Law No. 13,709/18 (“LGPD”), shall enter into force as of August 1st, 2021.
LGPD shall enter into force on May 3rd, 2021, but the administrative sanctions under LGPD’s articles 52 to 54 shall be enforceable as of August 1st, 2021.
It is worth highlighting that enforceability of the LGPD is still subject to change, as Provisory Measure nº 959/2020, which determined LGPD’s enforceability as of May 2021, has limited validity and must be enacted into law so that its provisions become definitive.
